Easy Thermomix Steamed Herbal Chicken Recipe for kids 简单药材蒸鸡食谱
Posted by Divine Chef on
For the longest time, I have been trialling different recipes for herbal chicken and I think I found the best from Miki's blog and adapted it for Thermomix. This recipe is surprisingly not too herbal or bitter in taste and the kids love it.
Ingredients
- 2 deboned chicken thighs
- Dang Shen one piece
- Dang Gui about 2 slices
- Red Dates about 3-4 with seed removed
- Wolfberries about a pinch
- Yu Zhu about 3 pieces
- Some salt or fish sauce (1tsp)
- Soy sauce (1/2 tsp)
- Sesame oil (1/2 tsp)
- Spring onion or coriander for garnishing
Directions <Thermomix cooking directions>
- Rub salt all over the chicken
- Mix all the ingredients together
- Keep in the fridge to marinate until its ready to be cooked (I usually start marinating mid day for dinner meals)
- Prior to cooking, let it sit a while in the kitchen to reset it close to room temperature
- Fill up the TM bowl to at least 1 litre mark with water
- Top with Varoma tray with chicken and herbal mixes wrapped in an aluminium foil
- At this point, the chicken should be room temperature and no longer frozen hard otherwise, you need to increase cooking time and there may still be blood after extended cooking. Chicken not defroze completely tend to end up still bloody even after extended cooking and cooking too long will make even the thigh meat less tender
- <Steam for 30min at Varoma speed 3> (check for doneness, add 15 more min if your chicken is still frozen)
- Serve with steaming hot rice
