How to make Healthy Chicken Nuggets

Posted by Divine Chef on

I don't know about you but I have stopped allowing my kids to eat commercial chicken nuggets for a while.  Really, what goes into the making of those nuggets, we do not really know. Thus, why not make our own ? It's really easy, fast and you can make a bigger batch each time to freeze for use next time.

How to make healthy chicken nuggets

  • 300g Chicken fillet (or breast meat)
  • 4 pieces of water chestnut (or half red onion + 2 1" turnip chucks)
  • Cornstarch ~ 2TBSP
  • Cooking oil ~ 2 TBSP
  • 1 egg
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Bread crumbs or crushed corn flakes)

Directions <Thermomix Directions>

  • Add chicken meat and water chestnut and chop into patty consistency <5sec , speed 1-7>
  • Add into cornstarch, oil, egg, salt and pepper and mix <20sec , speed 1-4>
  • Make into small balls and coat with panko and place each ball into your air fryer basket to air fry until golden brown at about 160 degree 20 min 200 degree 5 min (depending on the size of your nuggets, and brand of fryer adjust air fryer cooking time accordingly)
  • Alternatively, you may also flatten the balls slightly and pan fry them in a pan with hot cooking oil on both sides until brown and cooked through
